Specific Background removal hugely appreciated

Hi folks,
Please kindly edit, I need the background lightened on this picture. I'm not looking for a uniform bright white, just lightened. Perhaps two or three for the picture of varying depths so I can choose the ones I think best.
This will be HUGELY and immeasurably appreciated.
