Hey, all.

Another T-shirt design here. I'm doing this for an annual run from Baker, in California, to Las Vegas, Nevada.

The shirt is for a law enforcement team running in the event.

Comments welcome.

Very nice, maybe a defining edge around the dice as to single them out slightly, where the two over lap they look as one.

I like it, how did you go about making it?

I made the dice with a tutorial -

How to Create Shiny, Vector Dice in Illustrator | Vectortuts+ -

I built the banners, and put a gradient in the font stroke (forget how, but it's not hard). I drew the flame in the background, and put a multi-color gradient on that. I found a very simple tutorial for making smoke in Illustrator. Just draw two squiggly lines, do a "specified step" blend, then apply gaussian blur.

Obviously, I altered the dice to make bullet holes with simple ovals and the roughen effect.

Nothing terribly difficult.

Thanks,

AGent

Hi agent. It's a very cool design. The flame, however, seems a bit out of place, incongruous. It's such a different style from the Western motif. Taken separately it's a great element; very nice. And I think you're trying to represent Baker with the heat?

Are you running? Hope it's not a hot, sunny day!

I think it´s really cool, but I do agree with Clare on the flames, they don´t really fit somehow. :)

The flames are there because they will be running in the desert. Also because I needed something dark so you can see the smoke from the bullet holes in the dice!!!

The bullet holes were requested, so I don't want to change that. I redrew that flame three times, and messed with the shape for an HOUR!

Maybe I can make the smoke gray and get rid of the flames. I'll try that.

P.S. I.B.Clare, no way am I running in that thing! I may be crazy, but I'm not insane!!!

I understand why you made the flames. What about another badge shape and make it flaming -- not too flagrantly though?

Yeah, thought you were crazy, but glad to know you ain't completely lost it :bustagut:

Why not turn the flames into a circle, but keep the colours?

Both good suggestions. I can't really change the shape of the badge, though, because that is the department's badge shape. I'll see what the client says, and go from there.

iDad, that is a great idea. The grey of the badge really was making the flames incongruous, so the color is working. Seems like a good solution. I like it.

I think iDad is on to something here, the only issue I see with his redesign is the 'bullet hole' smoke doesn't look like 'bullet hole' smoke anymore. But I think his color scheme is right if you switch back the smoke...

Very cool design!
