I'm looking to setup a workflow to easily color correct industrial images using a chip chart included in every photo. In the video world, we adjust color balance manually until the colors of the chip charts hit pre-identified values on a Vectorscope. For this application we'll be using stills, and I imagine the process could be improved.
What I'm envisioning is some sort of plugin or application that "asks" for the chip colors in an image. For example, a photo includes red, green, and blue chips. The plugin knows what color they should be, and then asks you to point them out in the image. Once it knows what should be red, green, and blue, it can then auto adjust color balance to get an accurate white balance in the image.
Is this a pipe dream, or is there an existing way to do this?
