I have a scanner issue and wanted to load a psd to show the problem (600 almost looks better than 1200) but when I upload, it gets rejected. It's ~21 M. What is the max and where do I look please?

Another issue re: scanners. Mine only has jpeg, bitmap, png and a few other file types. These are actual photographs and I'd like to scan them in RAW. Is there any scanner that does this?

TY, IB

RAW is actually an unbuilt image photographers would use raw it takes what the lense sees but does not build the image hence the fact most picture viewers cant read raw files without a plugin and that is the reason it is so popular for photographers because you can tweak colours white balance and everything before your raw plug in builds the image. So in answer to your question I diont think it is possible to scan and save as raw because all it is doing is duplicatint an already built image as far as file size on here I think it takes 2500 pixels by 2500 possibly 3500 and save the image as a jpeg gif or png file bmps are way to big

Right now we're having server issues but the new server is being set up as we speak.
The plan is to get a new server set up that should be able to handle everything without issues.
Admin will have to close the site down for one day to move it.

This should happen over this coming weekend if all goes as planned.
We're optimistic this should take care of the server error messages and upload problems we've been having.

The max for a PSD, Zip, and RAR file is 20mb so you were over, but I couldn't get a PSD larger than 7mb to upload during some tests, so we're aware of the problem.
Please be patient.

Thanks
Steve

isnt the weekend the most popular time people use this site seems strange to take it offline for a day then but I guess what has to be done has to be done

OK, thanks Steve, I will. Not a problem anyway. Hoogie can wait for my humble images! ':-Q
I did however, just run into another problem while trying to load an img for the Palmetto Children's Home request. I had a jpg up then decided to modify it a bit and edit the msg with new img. Now I get broken img and I had issues even getting that into the drag space. So maybe this is all related to what you're saying above? BTW, how do I delete files from the file manager space?

I think the little chipmunks are working really busy tonight and testing by the looks of it there are lots of server error messages coming up but you know what it does not bother me because I am glad they are doing a server upgrade it just shows this site has got so popular the old servers cant handle the traffic. the more popular it is the more members we get which in turn means more help (maybe lol )

Steve I think it may be a good idea to put some note or a new thread explaining the server problems tonight the site is getting unusable from the UK anyway

Weekends are always a lot slower. Typically Monday and Tuesday have the heaviest traffic, Friday and Saturday the lightest.

The new server is up and running, but we are still working on the attachment file size issue.

do you mean as in before you actualy post if that is the case just click the image and press delete

 I've tried that. More than one way, and all clicking does is enlarge the img. If I select it and hit delete, nothing.

What if I just want to clear out all the images that have been posted already?

How do I delete images from the file manager?

Attachments are kept in the attachment manager so long as they are being used in a post. In order to delete an attachment you can go to the post where it is being used and delete the reference to it by editing the post. After the attachment is not being used for one hour it will be deleted automatically.

And do they exist there as a link to the post?

Yes, if you click the link in the top-left corner of the attachment that says "Asset Usage" it will show you what forum thread is using the attachment.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this, I hope I made it clear.

just out of curiosity with the server upgrade have you limited file size to 1.1mb it wouldnt let me upload a pic over that size

The current file size limit is 20MB for most file types, however some formats do have image dimension size limits. What size (pixel dimensions) was the image you were trying? We also might still have some bugs to work out on the new server, if you are within the dimension limits and not able to upload a 1.1MB image we might have another issue to check out.

I had to resize the image which was my fault but then it came up with an error saying maximum file size is 1.190 mb i think it said so had to compress the jpeg to level 6 compression

Ok that sounds like a big. What type of image was it when you were getting the error? (jpg, png, psd, etc)

Well poo. Not to be rude but I can't quite remember the person's name or the title of his post for which I want to delete the images. Is there a way to pull up all the posts I've replied to? I tried a search and it brought up 4. I thought I chose the mark option but I don't know how to trace the marks . . . I'm not a Photoshop newbie, but I am new to this format. Thank you (as they say "in advance" -- hate that presumption, kinda) for your patience and help, IB

If you need to find a post where you posted an attachment just go to the attachment manager and click the "Asset Usage" icon in the top right of the attachment you want to find... it will show you what thread it was used in and provide a link.
