Hi Guys. I'm currently Co-Chair of the Irish Discworld Convention and this year - being our first year - we are hosting the Oswald Award Night - an Oscars spoof.
We have several Awards, there's a Dinner followed by dancing and the hall will be made up in the Oscars style.
What I would like from you guys is some Art (FanArt as it were).
The Discworld Book - Moving Pictures - is based around the idea of Hollywood - termed Holy Wood in the book. Basically, in this place the barrier between world is thin, so when the Discworld folk start making "Clicks" they are basically remaking some of the best (and possibly worst) Movies ever made.
For instance- Gone with the Wind is revisualised as "Blown Away", The Interesting and Curious Adventures of Cohen the Barbarian spoofs The Adventures of Conan.
For a rundown of the list of "Clicks" that are mentioned in the book see http://wiki.lspace.org/wiki/Book:Moving_Pictures.
The challange - as you've probably guessed - is to create high-res Movie Posters of these "Clicks".
These posters - in A3 size, framed and tasseled according to style - will decorate the Hall for the viewing pleasure of the Members and Guests, including Terry Pratchett himself.
We will be using up to Ten of the best entries. And Entries need to be in by November 2nd, 2009.
