Some one was asking over on the official face book page for some one to try and retouch an old photo, and man did i step into it, ich lol...

The photo was not in the best state before i got it and seeing as this is the first ever photo retouch i have done, i defiantly started with a hard one i think. but i wanted to give it a go and this seams like a great image subject to try for. any way this is the before

AND the 2 versions i came up with. now this is the first time iv done this so i have probably made a mess of it :P

im not American but ill still thank this man for his commitment to saving life's. these are the men i feel we as a society should look up to not these "sporting hero's", fake singers and glamorous actors...

I didn't do the time lapse thing. I just played around with it, used a little bit of this, a little at that. (smudge tool mostly, ever so slightly, modest settings different modes, tolerances)

First one looks great. We had to restore a torn shredded photo from 1920 my first semester of design class. Restoration is not an easy feat.

Good job. My only critique would be to incorporate some noise in the background. The old photo restored still has a bit of grain on it, which is fine. Just match the background to have the same texture. As well as possibly putting a gradient on it as well to match the lighting of the soldier.
