I'm doing layout for a future article and would love to use that font (it was from a 1910 publication on their topic). It's for a non profit group, one time use so..naturally.. "free" is the operative word.. :D ....but.. anyone know where I could find this or one very similar to it?

Tanya, the sample you have posted is too small for me to run through my font recognition software. If you could re-scan it at a much higher resolution (600 > 1200 dpi) and with any other characters I could try it again.
(Greyscale, 1200 dpi, PSD and Zip or Stuffed. If the archive is too big to post on the forum, e-mail it to me direct)

Cheers, Al.

PS, I'm still waiting patiently for my 2 crates of Guinness! :bustagut: ;)

Edit: Typo

check out http://www.dafont.com for the fonts they have there. They have alot there, so I don't know if you'd find the exact one there (if it even exists), but you might be able to fine something close.

Hope that helps

I checked out the font site and I found a couple fonts I really liked. I down loaded them to my unzipped file. Now can anyone tell me how I can transfer these fonts to Photoshop 7 so that I can use them there. Thanks.

Tanya, the software is called Font Expert. It is available for Mac & PC. I only have v.2 but v.3 is available here:

It is really simple, quick and accurate as long as you have a reasonable selection of characters to scan in.

If you often need to find out what a font is, then this is a goodie. :D

Cheers Al.

I appreciate the tips on the sites mentioned. However I am still not sure how to transfer the fonts so that they will work in Photoshop 7. Can anyone help me there. I use the PC and my OS is W2000 Pro.
Thanks.

George, you just load them into your System fonts folder as normal.
They will appear in the Photoshop font menu automatically.

I use a Mac and my OS is X. ;)
(Sorry I can't be more specific.)

Al. There is my problem. I have done this before and I don't know the mechanics of loading it in. Can you take me through the procedure for me? Thanks.
George

installing new fonts

Hi!
You have two ways to install new fonts.
1. Copy the font files you want to install. Right click "start", and select "explore" option to open "explore". Open "windows" folder and then select "fonts" folder. Paste the fonts inside fonts folder.

The second way (more secure, less margin for error):
Click "start">"control panel">"fonts".
On the new window select "file">"install new fonts"
Select the drive, and folder were to look for your font files and select the files you want to install (or select "install all" button) and click install.
Automatically the fonts will show on all your programs.

Hey man. Terriffic. I used the second way and it worked perfect. Just what I was looking for. Thanks so much.
