Hi guys!
Actually, i'm an artist and love to use photoshop to learn more about this great software and when i'm watching some art work posted on the net..i simply wonder how people can do amazing things! For instance, i would really love to learn how to design smooth and clean design such the one i have attached in this post. (it's a printscreen. It's not mine. so credit to whoever has made that piece of design).
Thanks for answering. really appreciated!
Cheers.
Alex

p.s: any tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Is it possible to make it with photoshop?

If you do a google search on something like "photoshop tutorials abstract effects", you'll find many tutorials dealing with the type of lighting and coloring effects you see here. This could be a good place to start improving your knowledge.

Probably good places to start tool-wise are, in addition to as said above (brushes and filters), adjustment layers (for coloring), layer blending options (for lighting effects), and experimenting with image manipulation. For instance, by taking a slow shutter picture of flashlight movements, you can get smooth lines to color and filter.

Re: Is it possible to make it with photoshop?

Sounds like not easy to do...
I will do my homework to learn as much as possible. I have photoshop CS5. Do i need to buy those brushes and filters..or are they already in my CS5?
How would you name the sample i have attached..would it be 'flaming abstract effects'? or something else? i'd like to find a tutorial to help me build my project. I'm alone with this idea i'd like to learn how to do is asap.
Thanks for answering.

Re: Is it possible to make it with photoshop?

CS5 is definitely fine, most improvements between CS5 and CS6 are advanced features you won't need.

I don't have experience with this exact design but I can point you to some resources to get you started on making designs similar to this:
1) It would probably be best to start out with a few tutorials to get your bearings with photoshop. Pick a tutorial that shows an image you would like to learn how to make (maybe not exactly like this design but close) then follow the tutorial closely, step-by-step to learn how to use a lot of tools.
2) If you see a tool you do not understand how to use, google a tutorial to use that tool or there are probably people on this forum that will help.
3) When you are ready to take your skills beyond these tutorials to make something on your own closer to that image, you will need to find brushes. By googling "free photoshop brushes" (I prefer "free photoshop brushes deviantart") you'll find tons of options (some legit, some less-so).
4) The filters you will need for any of these steps all come pre-installed so don't worry about these.

Re: Is it possible to make it with photoshop?

I think you have to have made a certain amount of posts before you can edit your messages.

Here is a guy showing the basics of how to do it.

Thanks a lot Hil'mAmy. Very helpful info to start with.will follow your precious advice!

Search engine like goole.com.

yeah right..i will search 'goole.com'. i might find there..lol

1. I have already did my homework by looking for it on 'search engine' before seeking help from this forum.
2. I was seeking help by posting this image because i couldn't name the technique used in this image therefore i couldn't find the right tutorial on 'search engine' and learn from it how to do it by myself. got it?
3. And last, if you don't have any clue how to do it, do not reply useless comments because you just have shown to everyone what kind of help you can give to beginners. (not to mention the number of times people helped you with the right answer to your own questions..)

Thanks DV8_FX! I got help from another post and after adding more smoke brushes, it appears the result wasn't the same. I played with masks and i still can't get this smooth design. I'm gonna try with flames. I start to think it's the right option. Will start working on it right now.
Thanks again for your help! really appreciated.

Why ask the same question in a new thread when you're getting answers in your original thread?
http://www.photoshopgurus.com/forum...2-possible-make-photoshop.html#post1533636491

Dear Admin,
I tell you why.
because when i first registered there, i was directed to 'the welcome new members'. I have read rules. i briefly introduced myself and posted my request. At that time i posted it, i didn't get quick replies. I was confused. i thought maybe this thread was only for new members to introduce themselves.
Then i decided to post the same thing in more appropriate thread where i could see members were more responsive. When i got replies from there, i looked how to delete my first post but couldn't find 'how to delete it'. I couldn't even edit it. (i even asked to a member how to do it. negative answer. u can check my record).
Anyway, i'm a new member in new forum environment and still not familiar with the whole architecture.
I'm there to learn and share.
Best regards,
Alex.

Admin Steve,
I have replied to you in this thread but my message is not shown there. Did you get my message?

Sorry, jky. Your above mentioned post was marked for moderation - a forum auto feature against spam . Maybe caused by certain words or string of words you used in post. I've approved it.

Only now I noticed you're thread is not in the right area.

I'm moving this to the General PS Board as well as merge the replies from the other thread to here.

Mod edit...
Done... for easy access to info.
