Many of you may know about how to do this, BUT I found the tutorial to do this at the link below:

http://www.good-tutorials.com/tutorials/6/40

It also took about 20 minutes to do, now that I have the basics of PS just about down to a science!

I didn't have anything to put inside it, BUT you can put almost anything in it that you want!! Seriously, if you want to mess around with this one, the link to it is below!! It's in a zip file, and it is the psd file for the picture above!!

Have fun!! :righton:

What do you think?

Well I gues I get to be the one to start it off!

I did this to it!

It's a nice effect no doubt. And you've done a good job of recreating it. Well done. :}

I feel i should point out though, for reference, that the reflections the author used are incorrect. I recommend not copying that part of the tutorial. And i'm glad to see you used a shadow instead. ;)

FYI: The animation you posted mflintjer is a hefty 615KB in size. You may not get a lot of 56K folks sticking around for that to load.

Here's a challenge...
Since this is supposed to be a Kiosk... why not try and insert one of these into a photo of a mall or something? Or perhaps outside of an airport or other such location?

TIP: the toughest part of this effect will be matching the lighting and reflections of the surrounding environment. Good luck to anyone who tries it! I sense a bit of fudging and photo manipulation will be in order. \:] :righton:

Well, here it is! It wasn't as easy as I thought it might be! Guess I learned a good lesson in "Blending Options"!!

Anyway, It might not be as good as others, but I think it examplifies the challenge!

First is my version (can't seem to get it to load up 2nd)

Second is the original. I got it from the web! Photographer unknown, but is a picture from inside the Mall of America near the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) -- figured since I live in Minnesota, and have been to the mall, WHY NOT!!

Second is my version!

What do you think!!?? :D

Hey that's great guys. :righton:

Nice mall photo it's exactly what i was thinking of. :}

You did a good job mflintjer. To complete the illusion, you need to add highlights and reflections on the upper half (the glass) of the surrounding environment. You could also do with a few on the lower half too.

I realize this seems like a daunting task. But in the real world of art and design, this work would simply have to be done. By doing it here for this basic example project, you'll have a much better grasp on what goes into a piece like this (a photo manip/comp) so far as time/work are concerned; as well as effects. It'll also give you a much better appreciation for some of the work you see around you everyday in ads and on TV.

Where learning exercises are concerned, there's never any rush for completion. So never be afraid to tackle the job. One step at a time and it'll be done before you know it. ;)

I took your hints into account -- and THAT IS alot of work! However, I don't give up easily, and did something of a reflection on the left side of the orb! I still have a bunch more reflections to render-up, and that will take a while to do. So here you go, the mod to my last posting! :righton:

Hey Rick, I don't know if you have a list of links for PS tutorials -- if you do, I haven't found them yet! If the list exists, and if you don't have the link I posted in the first post of this thread

Maybe you will want to add it to the list. The site has over 1,000 tutorials (many seeming very redundant, but use different effects and techniques) ranging from beginner to advanced! I have been going there for a little while now, and it seems to be helping me out!!

Another thing, about the redundancy, if one were inclined enough to do the "SAME" or nearly same tutorial(s) over and over a few times -- one might get better at shortcuts, techniques etc. etc.!!

Thanx for all the kudos and tips and hints! :}

I know this is off topic, but thought I had to express myself anyway! :D

I've been sitting here at the "Crack Machine" (my computer) -- working on a tribal scorpion! Whilest I was working, the most classic of classic childrens movie came on TBS -- The Wizard of Oz!! ;)

I turned around to catch a few frames and happened to catch it right after the house landed on the wicked witch of the east. As I looked at the TV, I started to notice just how simple the effects were made in the movie! Not that it's a bad thing, but an underlying thought came forward in my mind! There must have been alot of good drugs used to come up with everything in the movie!! [innocent] No, really, I'm not knocking the movie down or anything -- but DUDE, the colooorrrsss, the Munchkins, THE FLYING MONKIES!!!!!!! Not to mention the "poppy field" before the emerald palace! [honesty]

Is this something that someone else has thought of too, or is it just me!?

Like I said before, I know this is off topic, but had to share my view on this!! 8[

Sorry, I was a bit loopy last night as I was working on my next project (which I started earlier yesterday -- worked on it all day long (half staring at those grey & white pixels that indicate a transparent background)and which by the way, is nearing complettion), The Wizard of Oz came on -- and I just thought everything seemed TOO COLORED or not "normal"! It kinda' reminded me of my dumber days!! That's all!!

I thought somebody would have laughed about it!!

Don't mind me, just staring at this computer screen too long while working on a really nice art project in PS! :D
