I don´t know how to fix this, I want to learn how to make typography posters and things so I´m experimenting, but this looks totally wrong to me, the picture is too "smokey" I think and the text doesn´t match. I tried using a paper texture underneath, but that just made it worse so I took it out.

I´ll take any help I can get. :)

When doing a poster or Wallpaper first start with radial gradien that gives you a focus light, then put a texture(old paper)try color burn lajer blending mode.Regarding brushes attempt to control them better(try using lajer mask removing brushes where they are not needed)maybe put some behind the model(now the model is barely seen) are you doing this by tutorial?

Thank you Luna! No It´s not by tutorial, I´m just trying things out, I did have an old paper texture on it, but I don´t think it worked. I´ll go get it and show you. :)

Ok, this is what I did first with paper texture and less "smoke", but now the text looks "naked".

Put a few examples of posters that you try to make,You can change color of text via layer style(gradinent overlay for example)and maybe change the shape of via free transform-warp

Ok, I´ll try :). I have put every letter on a diffrent layer, and changed the size by scaling and moved them to how they are now. I will try free transform but it´s going to be a pain to change the color and warp of every letter lol. :) I need to learn things though, so this is good, thank you! :)

That it is better, but i still can not see what you trying to get Can you describe?(how you imagined this composition)

Ok, I´ll try lol..

I imagined this woman having read this book, and then changing. Butterflies symbolize transformation. What I really wanted was that she merged out of the pages in the middle of the book and transformed into a butterfly woman thing. Lol. :)

Yeah really Vafaan but then I am more of a person that likes simple yet bold styles I am sure lots of people like all textures blurs etc etc but I am a strong believer if you have a good image why hide it. I only tend to use all the effects if I am covering up a mistake etc

Ok... thank you again Hoogle, now I´m really confused.. you don´t think it was messy and too much "smoke" all over the place? :)

now I understand :D ,maybe try to put this wings on her back Browsing Resources & Stock Images on deviantART she really becomes butterfly woman, and this effect that you are trying to get by using the smoke it might be better to use light streams around her body(something like these effects http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/design/photoshop-lighting-effects/ light curves in different colors)

Oh yes! Thank you Luna! I have saved the links both to my favorites and to my OneNotes. :)

admittedly the smoke is a bit to thick maybe lower the opacity slightly could even try duplicating the layer lowering the opacity on the under copy and then set the upper copy blending mode to dissolve or soft light. maybe adding a bit more contrast to the main subject so she stands out a bit more

I do not understand in the first picture is so much smoke that the model is barely seen(almost entirely hidden)
