Any advice on photoshopping glass into a table top?

I work at a furniture company as their graphic designer amongst other things but basically I do alot of retouching photos (it's easier to photoshop furniture then completely rebuild it). Anyway, my project today is to photoshop a piece of glass into a open table top, and I don't have a picture of glass to work with. I've looked at glass tutorials but so far haven't found much other then how to add the glass effect to balls and buttons. Anyone have any ideas? Should I just do a light colorfield and add a highlight or is there a better way?

without seeing the table top,I would suggest creating your top in a new layer with a very light color then use you opacity (fill)filter to make it transparent that's the easiest way, without seeing it we are lost. There could be other filters involved also like bevel, emboss, shadows …you name it?What' under the table? on and on and on.

Sounds like good advice, that's kinda what i was thinking. The table is actually almost exactly like Ralph Lauren Home - Conservatory Garden Cocktail Table - RalphLaurenHome.com. I guess if I just keep messing with the opacity and the highlights it should look like glass eventually. Thanks for responding =)

you could also get that effect using a gradient on the transparent layer
