Anti Rhino Poaching Logo

I'm part of an online gaming community here is SA, and there was an idea to get the publisher of an MMO to include a Ghostly Rhino in their game, as part of Anti-Poaching awareness. We put together some info for them, & are awaiting a reply. I was asked to design a logo for the submission, which I tried to keep basic but interesting.

Really nice logo there kiddo. I like the separate elements. I'm just not sure the rhino works at this point. Two things you might consider. One, give the edge of the rhino the same layer effect treatment as the frame, though more subtle, smaller. Maybe the white border doesn't work as well as a medium to dark grey. Two, make the frame thinner so that it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the design, which I think it does at this point. I think you might also try a medium to dark grey border on the frame and make all the shadows and bevel shadows a dark grey instead of black.

Just a couple ideas to tie it together better. IMO. But I am the Queen!

I like the flag BG. Nice touch.

I just looked at the logo on full magnification and I see that you do have layer effects. Maybe that subtlety should be transferred to the frame/scope and it wouldn't seem so overwhelming. That alone might make it better for me. But, it's your logo and you and your group can decide that. You can always offer 2 or 3 versions to choose from. Anyway, I like it!

Are you working on alternative designs? Just curious. When I said, offering a couple versions of this logo, it reminded me of what most clients want (been there myself) which is more than one design to choose from. Of course, if it's for free, beggars can't be choosers. Yet, ya know? They usually are anyway . . .

I hadn't started any alternative options. The original was done purely in Ai, and is a lot flatter, this was just an updated version for the facebook page. I didn't give them more than one design, just in case they got too choosy

Thx for the comments. I will have a look at making some changes, as I do see what you are saying. Composition etc, I guess gets better with experience. The pen tool is my strong point at the moment, hopefully the rest will follow. I do tend to struggle with how light or dark the shadows & highlights should be. Teaching an old dog new tricks as they say.. (me being the old dog.)

Hey, I'm from SA to. It's a nice logo, but I agree with IDad as well. It looks as if it says that SA is a spot for hunting Rhinos.
