Another advanced photoshop question- page curl colour swirls

I need help understanding how the effect of the, for lack of a better word "Swirls" of color were created on the main sample image from:

This is an effect that I have created with pencil but never with photo shop.

It's a free plugin called "Sinedots."
If you do a search here on the forums, there's at least a couple of threads about it, one of 'em has the link for the download.
