animated GIF edits in PS

I have been playing with avatars, as animated gif files. When I edit the only way I seem to save all layers is as a psd file...which is ok....but I cant use it as an avatar in psd format

I do not do any animations, just stills...Can any one point the way. I want to do simple edits, changing time , direction...etc.I do have acess to MacroMedia software...never having used it, I would like to do this in PS...I have CS5.

I did figgure out the save....not many editing actions.

you need to do the save for web and devices rather than save as etc

Yup....otherwise the GIF is not animated
