What technique could I use to "airbrush" out the drawers in this toolbox image I've posted to make it look realistic? I scaled the size down so it would attach...
 
Here`s the approach I took :
Select the drawer area (pen tol, lasso...)
Pick average red from the box, fill selection
Select round airbrush brush (7-9 px) at 20% opacity, 30% flow and select highlight colors from the box to paint over the highlit ares in the original photo.
Add a alyer mask to the red fill layer and mask out the latches, and add shadows.
Maybe give the red fill layer a slight Gausian blur.

Just to add try zooming way in and see how much noise is in the rest of the metal in the photo,then carefully add the same amount to the airbrushed area.It works a treat :)

Thanks kiwi. I kinda rushed through that example. In addition to the noise you mentioned, a reflection of the table it sits on would do wonders, as well.
