To be more specific....
.... is this a flyer (or part of a flyer), website or news print ad ?
.... is this the final, output size?
Regardless whether an ad or flyer, you have to include pertinent details.... attention grabbing header, school and course identification, dates, deadlines, contact info... details in a nutshell, not only for the reader or viewer's information, but to get them involved with the activity being announced.
Its usually not a good practice to create the design without knowing the details then adding content later only to find that it does not match the graphics in your work. With the details in hand, you can build the design around it.
If its meant for a Newspaper Ad , color reproduction for newsprint is expensive. Black & White is the economical norm most especially for newsprint in your location. Sending the news agency a colored artwork for b&w reproduction can have negative consequences in terms of their output. You have to prepare the Black & White artwork version for proof print on a laser printer or hi-def printer or as hard copy to be sent off to them.
If its for a website, even if there's a write-up that goes with it, a few details won't hurt. The thing is, a properly done image with info details can even be used on its own.
You must also take into consideration the final output size in relation to its contents and the artwork's intended placement. Too much visual details (additional images even detailed images) is like noise. It clutters the artwork and eventually blends into the noise and clutter of its printed or viewable environment.
Sometimes, Visual Impact can be achieved with the fewest number of image components in the artwork. But you have to choose them wisely.......
