Adjustment layer thumbnail

I created two documents, one at 300x300 72 ppi and one 300x200 72 ppi. Then applied a colour fill adjustment layer two both. I noticed that the thumbnails appear to be different. Can anyone explain the cause of the difference.

The layers and masks will match the image on the screen.
