I would like to add a background layer to a montage (I think montage is the correct term) that is one solid color. Can someone explain how to do this? Thank you.

Add a layer at the bottom of the stack and fill it with whatever color your heart desires. Backgrounds of the upper layers have to be transparent.

That's where I run into trouble, how do I fill it with color? when I try to add color I get an "area selected is empty" message.

Post the file your working with and we can give you a better answer.

Oh Great! Now I have to figure out how to "post a file" or "create a screen shot" (that's meant to be humorous). I will work on those task tomorrow. In the mean time I'm going to shut off my computer, have a couple of drinks and go to bed. We'll continue with this in the morning when I'm fresh. Thank you.

If you don't have that knowledge, I can understand your difficulties. Please get back and we will try and assist you.

Posting files is easy, just hit the "Insert Image" icon and chose the file...........hit upload.

Screenshots are easy on a Mac.............shift + command + 4....click and drag, block out what you want in the shot.

Not sure how to do it on a PC.

On my PC I have this icon, just click it and the window comes up, drag out what you want and save it.windows screen shot.JPG

He's still online Larry..........I think he may have started drinking and forgot to log out and turn off his computer. :bustagut:

IamSam has a window to my soul. I used the paint bucket to color the layer and that worked. Also I tried a color fill layer and that worked also. I'm not sure what the difference is. Thank you all for the help. Sometime I get so frustrated I have to take a break.

Smart to break,......BUT think of these new tasks as simple fun, post up your idea / issue (screen shots are great) and if we understand, you will find many ways to do the same task posted by Gurus!

I think you needed to go to the layers menu, and add a color layer.....BUT you got it done!
