I have an image of my house; I have a tree I wouldl like to put in front of the house; However, when I paste the tree in front, its unnatural as it covers the underlying luminence/shading of the house image; is there a way to paste an object onto the background and keep the backgrounds shading effects like when using mask and brush using the color method [vs the normal method which destroys all the shading of the background?

thnx in advance for any suggestions.

every image has it's effects needed if you can post the image you have done, you'll probably get some very beneficial suggestions.
For me, not seeing it I am drawing a blank other than perhaps try your layer mode.
