Hi all, I'm a Photoshop newbie and this is something I did to practice my blending and using the warp tool. It is the 1st thing I did without following a tutorial. I know it's kinda amateurish but I wanted to get some feed back on the blending and color scheme. I would appreciate any input.

Everyone starts as an amateur. I don't see any blending with the brushes that you used in the background. I do see more with the images that you used.
Some things to do to blend them together would be to do feathering or take a soft eraser and erase parts so that they blend together.

I can't seem to find the feathering option...I had it on screen once or twice in the past, but forgot how I got it. I will have to Google it soon.......Thanks man for the input I appreciate it a lot.

grab the magic wand (I am sure other tools have the option as well but this is the one that popped into my head first) Right click and its there. I think the other tools with the magic brush have it as well. Pen tool has it as well.

Thanks a load man...I needed that info days ago!!...I am just starting to practice with the pen tool, it's kinda intimidating to me but I'm doin it anyway.

I would suggest you clean up the image a little, right now it looks way to busy and confusing. Also, the overall design is very 2D meaning it has no dimension. Try bring more 3D effects into the image like adding subtle shadows (especially for the page curl next to the eyeball).

Those are my thoughts.

Hey LooknGlass, that's really cool! Especially while learning the tools, that's a tough challenge you gave yourself.

Kinman Chan is an artist that you may want to reference because he uses a similar approach. He'll paint an abstract image like your crayon drawing, and then mold the painting out of it, using the abstract image as inspiration.

I'd include a link, but since I'm a newbie I'm not allowed to! :P just google him, he'll come right up!

I love what you were going for, abstract work isn't as easy as it looks haha. Like mentioned before, try using the eraser with a soft brush to blend better. Also the burn and dodge tools work pretty good. Also when finished try messing with some image adjustments like curves, levels, brightness/contrast, etc.

Keep doing things like this though, abstract work is the best.

i like it

the only thing i think is distracting me in the pic, is there's too much going on in the background "fractal brushes"
i think is taking away the attention on the main object in the center.

Btw i still creating art like that and your is better than mine, pretty cool

Please keep it up.
