A question (probably) about layers

(I mean, I think it is)

I'm trying to move this guy's face: calli-fugate-with-todd-frazier.jpg onto this guy's body: Razor-Ramon-Both-Hand-Thumbs-Up.jpg
Thus turning the Reds' Todd Frazier into "Frazier Ramon." I know what you're thinking, "Wow. That is both dumb and unfunny." Yes, this actually passes as comedy amongst my dopey friends and I.

Cutting and pasting is easy enough, but I would like to retain that very identifiable curl of hair on Razor's forehead. Otherwise that body is any generic wrestler and an already weak joke gets that much weaker.

What do I need to do so that the pasted face slides "behind" that curl? Or is there a smarter/easier way to do it? Cut the curl, move it aside, paste the face and then paste the curl?

Any help would be appreciated.

Duplicate the original. Turn off the original layer.
Isolate the curl.
I used a layer mask and the Brush Tool to isolate the curl. Once I was done, right click the layer mask and hit "apply layer mask".
I then used the Rectangular Marquee Tool to make selection around the isolated curl.

Then I hit command + J to duplicate the curl to it's own layer.
Turn off or delete the masked layer we just made if you like.

Turn your original back on.
Add in the new face above the original.
Place the curl layer at the top. (I also made it a shadow layer)

Yeah, she reminds me of Deborah Ann Woll form True Blood....

Thank you!

Now I'm not saying I'm going to steal that because it's likely better than anything I could do myself....at all.......but I'm going to steal that because it's likely better than anything I could do myself.

(But I will at least make a concerted effort)

That's disappointing because I intentionally left it in bad shape so that wouldn't happen............I will do better next time.
