A Question about Gimp Photoshop

I don't know how you all feel about Gimp. So, here's a question about one of it's features.

There is a feature called Alpha to Logo that allows you to create Logo's and special effects.

How do you all feel about the "one touch" does it all? That's what I call Alpha to Logo.

Is it a true artists impression or a way of cheating?

I don't know anything about Gimp but IMHO unless your doing photojournalist work there is no such thing as cheating.
If a "one touch" setting in Gimp gets you the results "you" want it's perfectly legitimate.

to me, if it's used well, it's not cheating it still needs an artistic sense of colour and control for it to work out but i suppose in a way it can be seen as a cheat, as they aren't doing much work. the debae could go on for ages ;)

If it's a 'pre set' then it is not cheating, pick any of the pre set brushes for instance, use one anyone it does not make you a cheat does it?

Y'know you're right about that! That's why those plug-ins were made in the first darn place!

Ha! It's common sense.

Thank you all!
