well, I've got to say, this was flipping hard! I've spent all day on it, don't know where the idea sprouted from perhaps Aston Martin's Recent 100th birthday, but despite it being hard, the feeling of achievement when I called it a day was a great feeling

at Fifty Two layers, this is the largest project I have ever finished, and it still needs a lot of work.

As it says in the title, it's a lioness's face, made up entirely from modern Aston Martin Cars including the brand new CC100.

I've added a few effects on top too, so it's not as static looking:

Aston Martin-ized:

It's a bit messy and clunky in areas, I do apologize if you can see any random splodges from your screen, they are very hard to see on mine :P

otherwise, enjoy, hope you like it!

Comments are welcome, in fact please do comment wherever possible! :D

Thanks!

A piece to brag about for sure, nice work Z! Very nice I'm impressed

This is fantastic Zee. What a great idea. That guy who wanted to turn a human into a robot should see this.

I'm sure you can see imperfections, but I'd have to concentrate to find them.

Welcome to the mind numbing world of multiple layers and counting!

PS: I like it much better on the black.

thank you iDad and ibclare, glad you both like it :) and I think i saw that guy's thread, IIRC the tutorials were quite intriguing.
the layers were so confusing, trying to sort out blemishes was a pain as I couldn't find what layer it was coming from but it was entertaining nevertheless XD mind numbing sounds about right :P
the black does look good i have to admit i accidentally stumbled across a nice little effect for this I might show later on :P

Beautuful work! I know that had to be a bear.
(Yeah yeah..I know it's a lion )

this was the accident that I exploited i was looking to add some noise to it to make its a little grittier, found a blend mode that turned it dark and quite cool (to me anyway)

less aston martin-ey more techy dark stuff I'm used to! :P

click for HQ otherwise it looks quite bad! :P

That is very cool, I think what I would do or recommend is within the eyes area remove the noise leave the eyes pure and maybe just do the noise on the metal looking features instead of a whole noise layer on top of everything..just a thought

okay so, more like this:

???

i've darkened the lower jaw and neck, i'll upload the two new ones in a momento!

Hey Zee, absolutely fantastic! I like the version on the black background in the first post but I really like the texture in the latest version, I think iDads idea of removing the noise over the eye worked great. Not liking the darkened lower jaw though, this pulls the entire comp a little on the dark side.

came back to this and I now bear an updated version of the original piece:

Got rid of the hard edges at points and fixed up a fair few blemishes.

also changed the eye so it's less pixellated.

enjoy
