I put up some old childhood photos that were very bad quality and asked for some takes on restoring the pictures. I was overwhelmed by the response of you guys. I took the thread of public view as to I did not want to waste peoples time on editing pics for me after we closed the thread due to some tainting and during the moves from 3 mods the attachments have seemed to have been lost somehow so I am going to repost the pictures so everyone can see the before and after pictures .

Spruce is it possible to reupload yours when I do it i get red bands across the image

Same to Paul when I saved your picture it is beyond recognition and almost black

A big thank you to all that helped

By all means if you have started something then finish it I just didnt want to feel like I was asking to much and that thread got tated. so was just easier to post before and afters in a new thread. as iDad had pointed out was not fair that you all did the hard work just to have it hidden And I also didnt want personal aspects floating around in the never land So a bunch of reasons why the thread was closed and hidden but I was wrong to hide it as you all put in so much good work so this is my way of saying thank you and keeping it tidier as to being easier to see everyones before and after results.

Sorry about the second one, it was so blurred could barely make it look right, hope they are alright.

one of the layers is causing the darkness, finding out which one is a baggar, sorry matey. :(

OK. You know I have a tendency to prefer darker photos, so if you want, I can make the one with the dog lighter (did a gamma adjustment) but there is already so little detail.

For this shot I had already made 2 jpegs, darker & lighter so here they are:

Nice job Zee I have not seen a restoration job from you before and that 2nd 1 is quite hard to do I actually reverted to colouring in a black and white photo technique

Thanks Clare for getting them back to me I used a facebook book uploader so kind of ruined the pics I saved

Hoog, I threw A fairly heavy duty High Pass on this and used a levels adjustment to correct color balance. Can't get any more detail but a bit more sharpness (and color aberration) anyway.

Just don't enlarge these much! Let the brain fill in the details

OOh I dont know i think it can be enlarged as long as you work with it as you do it remove noise etc. Then again any larger and it makes us look like aliens I just tried as there were no detail ins in the faces and black holes as eyes lol. I did try with yours though with some noise removal but everytime i resized it then it came back worse.
And then after all the work when I got it back to the original starting size all the detail had gone lol.
