3d tool in CS 5: background image disappears

Hello! Since I switched to Windows 8, I have an issue with Photoshop CS 5:
While I'm editing an object with the 3d tool, the background image disappears, i.e. it turns into the transparency checkerboard. Is there an option where I can change this?
