Hi, I'm new to CS6 and 3D in PS. I'd like to have a gradient on the face of the text, then have a sold color (with lighting) on the extrusion. I've tried looking for tutorials, but haven't had any luck. Can you help?

Hi ergalthema, Just apply the gradient to the text before you extrude it in 3D. It will become a little darker when extruded so you will have to experiment a little before you get the colors right.

You can change the extrusion material/color by selecting it here......

And adjusting it in the Properties panel here......

Some of the best 3D tutorials I've found have been HERE. Look for any 3D tutorials by Corey Barker.

I will also add that if you want the gradient on a separate layer, you will have to isolate and select the the 3D text face and then add a gradient.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, the Mac crashes everytime. Possibly due to the graphics card not being officially supported by Adobe.

But the info is very helpful once I am able to fully run the software. Thanks!
