The changes you made certainly did brighten up the image, but not knowing if your goal was to accomplish exactly that amount of brightening, or your goal was to achieve even more brightening, or something entirely different, it's hard to give any sort of constructive comments. One always needs a bit of context when evaluating images.
I do have one question, though: Since it is so easy to liven up the image even more (see attached), why did you stop at the point you did? For example, does too much brightening / contrast / saturated colors in this image conflict with something else in your design?
