2015 Adobe Photoshop Keyboard Shortcuts Cheat Sheet

What if a tool, has several different tools, is there a quick way to switch between them? For example, pressing M will switch to the marquee tool you've got selected e.g. square, is a keyboard shortcut to switch to the elliptical marquee tool.

You can just hit the corresponding letter to change the tool in the same group, so if you have the Marquee tool selected just hit the M key again to change it from elliptical to rectangular and so on
You have to make sure this option in preferences is deselected otherwise you'll have to use the Shift key combination

Be aware though that using Shift only works IF the tool has a shortcut.....so taking the 'Marquee' tool as an example yes it will work between the 'Recatangular' and the 'Eliptical' tools but not the 'Single Row' nor 'Single Column' tools.

Alt clicking the Icon though will cycle through all the tools in that group without opening the flyout, regardless of having a shortcut assigned.

EDIT:

LOL...although the 'Pen' tool seems to be in its own camp and refuses to change via this method (CC 2014).

WHY can Adobe never be CONSISTANT?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

""WHY can Adobe never be CONSISTANT?"

I agree MrTom

Pen Tool does the same in CS6 and CS2015. You think at this stage someone in Adobe would have copped on

P.S. Alt clicking the icon will not be any quicker than right clicking and selecting the tool it's actually slower for your work flow, you still have to select the tool and alt click and cycle through the tools. Isn't much quicker just to right click and select the tool.
Alt click takes four clicks to select the last tool if there are 4 tools in that group, whereas right click and select only takes 2 clicks. over a big project that's a lot of wasted clicks

Oh...... they did!

In PS7 the 'Marquee' tool did much the same as the 'Pen' tool, only the first two options worked.
This was fixed in CS but did they do the 'Pen' tool as well?

Nah.

12 years later......Is it fixed now?

Nah.

Probably still having a meeting about it.

Regards.
