2 portrait images onto 1 landscape canvas?

Hi,

I have the results of a photoshoot - some portrait, some landscape.

Can photoshop automatically tell the difference?

I would like it to go through a folder, group the portraits together in 2's and create a new file from 2 portraits side by side?

Is this even possible?

PS. sorry if this is in the wrong forum area.
