1970 Photo Restoration

Here is a photo of my mom from 1970. Please let me know of any adjustments I can make to enhance the photo and any tips are appreciated. I am a college student majoring in graphic design but have a passion for photo editing, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated it. Thank you!

Very nice color adjustment. I do think you have oversharpened it though. That contributes to the overbright highlights. Bring down the sharpness and apply some gaussian blur to much of her face, ears, etc. You can make her a smart object, apply the blur filter, then use the mask to selectively replace sharpness in her eyes and such. Varying the strength of the brush will allow you to vary the degrees of sharpening and blur. You may also need to adjust the levels or curves or whatever you use to get the almost blown highlights under control.

Well, I am sure you will get better advice from some of our more experienced photographers, but that's where I would start.
