Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

ibclare, If I wanted to draw this building from scratch, should I use PS? I was thinking about maybe tracing this and then adding in small details to show the shape of the building... but giving it more of the vector drawing look as opposed to the real thing. Thats what I meant by "cartoony" :OP...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

I do appreciate all the help. I've read books on how all the tools/filters work but I'm not quite experienced enough to know WHEN to use them :) Thanks a ton for the help!

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

This helps a TON. I appreciate it. I started looking into vector graphics last night (in inkscape). I think I'm spreading myself a little too thin as a beginner so I'd like to attempt this using photoshop...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

ibclare!! YES! That is EXACTLY the idea I was going for. Any help you can give me so that I can give it a shot myself? I was thinking about replacing the top part of the 8 with text but I'm not sure that wouldn't completely remove the idea of the "8". Also, since i'll be bringing this to a...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

Thank you all for the help. ibclare, you have the right idea :) Sean, The city hall is only part of the idea, I just needed to figure out a way to recreate the building and also manipulate it i.e. curve it so it looks like its protruding from the bottom of the "8". Do you think switching to...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

The look I am going for is like the building in the example from this post. I'd like to keep the general shape of the building but make it "cartoony". Note that I'm just looking at the building above, not the excess art. Another example. If you look at the one below, the buildings kind of curve...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

The T-Shirt is for a yearly event. Its our Eigth year doing it. I'd like to recreate a simple version of the building so I can manipulate it and intertwine it with the number 8. I do like the simpsons style, probably not for a t-shirt though :) I assume you just used a filter?

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

I agree Sean. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that... trace out the outline and add in color? I'm not too artistic, so how would you recommend I show enough detail to differentiate between the different levels on the building?

So I suppose a better question would be how do I recreate the building while also exposing its features?

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

Hoogle, I was actually looking to create a type of building caricature (with approximately two colors) and then bend the image to fit inside the bottom portion of an "8". (Our Eight year doing an event in Buffalo, NY and trying to get creative with it). But what you did still looks nice :)

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

Thanks Agent. I think that is indeed a good idea. I'm thinking I need to leave out some of the detail and possibly just capture the basic outline. Any tips for that? Above is a picture of city hall. The trees are blocking most of the base, but you can see that there are a ton of windows...

Creating a cartoon version of my city hall

Hello, I am new to photoshop (I've read a couple of books) and I'm not too comfortable with everything it has to offer quite yet so I was looking for some help. I have a picture of my city hall that I'd like to create a cartoon version of. Its the City of Buffalo City Hall - lots of windows and...
