    PSD layer style: 1px stroke adds 2px

    Are you able to take a snapshot or export the image as an example. Perhaps it only looks that way rendered in Photoshop. Please post an example.

    I need help: Transparent text

    It depends, is the text you are trying to work with on it's own layer? If so, all you have to do is reduce the opacity on the text layer. If the Background is on the same layer (one flat image)... you could try removing the text and fixing the background to look like there was never any text...
