Radial Dot Pattern following outward contour - gulp!!

Yep, except for the gradient should be black to white. And there should be white background at the bottom. And you can adjust the opacity of the gradient Smart Object to get the look you like.

Radial Dot Pattern following outward contour - gulp!!

You don't have to apply no mask layer. Just follow the steps below: 1. Maке a gradient layer with seven black to white, black to white sections: Set its Style to Angle. 2. Convert it to Smart Object. Set its Blend mode to Screen. 3. Apply the Twirl filter to it.

Radial Dot Pattern following outward contour - gulp!!

Ups, I forgot to mention that gradient should be with Angle style

Radial Dot Pattern following outward contour - gulp!!

As for dots: 1. Make a circular path the size of the outer circle 2. Stroke it with the blue circular brush with Spacing around 116% 3. Hold Alt key and choose Edit->Free Transform. Scale down the dots circle. Press OK. 4. Press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T as many times as needed. As for gradients: 1...

Houston, I think we have a major problem here. (re: color management)

Tom, it's just a forum, all right? I, for one, just show the right direction to save the people from the senseless and fuitless efforts, but I won't ever do the whole job for them for free. That is so! But the reason is that there is always some threshold when a mere advice turns...

    Average colour blend mode?

It's just common way to describe Blend modes, opacities, adjustments, etc. everywhere in books and docs. Google blend modes and see yourself:) I just reposted my own post from another forum http://www.photoshopforums.com/post84567.html#84567

    Average colour blend mode?

Oh man, I derived that recursion formula many years ago.... Tom, stop explaining obvious things, please. I knew that fo ages. Layer1 in my formula is aggregated result of all the layers beneath Layer1 including Layer1 itself.

    Average colour blend mode?

Man, I did not write no recursion. I wrote general opacity formula. It's when you use this formula for recursion you naturally end up with cumulative result:)

    Average colour blend mode?

Derivation is simple. Once you know the opacity math: Result = Layer1*(1-a) + Layer2*a , the formula for average can be derived easy:) Sorry, but I did not notice any reference to gamma issues in OP posts... Not that I still see the relevance of it ... Long, very long time ago I used...

    Average colour blend mode?

There is nothing complicated about average. The formula is simple: 100/N, where N is the position of layer. That is: the first layer -(the bottom one) - 100% the second - 100/2 = 50% the third - 100/3 = 33,3% the fourth - 100/4 = 25% the fifth - 100/5 = 20% and so on... This is...

    Histogram luminosity values changed

According to evenly spaced vertical gaps on your histogram my guess is that some adjustments have been done on your image. Levels? Auto Color?

Linking an Adjustment Layer to two separate layers

It can not be done in general. But if you simply want to change colors of different layers you can use Smart Objects: Add Solid Color layer above one of your layers. Clip them in a Clipping group. Convert color layer to Smart Object. Copy Smart Object over another layer. Clip them in a...

How to avoid resaving smart objects?

No way it is so. Smart Objects are ALWAYS part of the PSD file, no matter HOW they were created. Either through File->Place or any other way. Smart Objects are not external links, never were so and never were supposed to be:cheesygrin:. Once created, in any way, they have absolutely no...

    Cutting Out Heads

For me Curves and Color Balance have always been some kind of try and probe methods:cheesygrin: Look at it this way: when skin tones match, there should be no visible difference between them in individual color channels, right? So why not play it straight? Here is what I do to match skin...

    Lens Flare Filter

This method can be used in many other ways. Here we extracted light color components from the black background. But we can also extract color components from the shadows on the white background. Just Invert the image and light turns to dark:) Say you have an image of the sunglasses over white...
