    Here's a go. If anyone is wondering, the font I used is Xavier Sans Black. (If you have access to Lithos Black or Carmel Regular, those would probably work better.) It's not perfect, but if no one else tries it, I think it will do.

    These photos certainly are not ideal, but they are workable. If you have a photo of your grandfather's face that does not have such shiny highlights, a more realistic result could be achieved.

    Hm. I actually don't own Photoshop myself, but I've seen some amazing things done with Blend If, especially on PiXimperfect's YouTube channel. If any individual channel/slider is going to get you much luck, it's probably either the blues or the luminosity. Perhaps try duplicating the layer...
