Is that a scanned image?
It looks like a 6X4 scanned at at a resolution of 300

There's no detail in your Dad's face. Try rescanning it at your scanner's native resolution.
If it's a very large file put it in a ZIP or Rar folder we support both.

Better still is to set the crop/scan area to just you and your dad and scan at a much higher resolution. The detail may still be a bit muddled but its worth a shot to see what extra detail the scan picks up that may help in the re-touching.

If your scanner has adjustment settings, play around to get a good contrast and brightness that may minimize the fuzziness and bring out detail.

I downloaded the image and opened it in Photoshop and there's just no detail their.
Sorry.
Can't improve on something that doesn't exist.

All may not be lost.

As it seems that you want a picture of your dad and you together, if you have a good picture of him and a picture of you at your present age in a matching pose and good condition with matching lighting, merging the two of you together in an image is possible.

Open a new thread if you wish to try this alternative.
