Help: Paths do not like to line up with photo

So I have this logo I have been working on (first image)
But when I select the layer then add the path in the paths tab I get a messed up path outline. (Second Image)


I know I could just use the pen tool but that seems to be too much work. I was wanting to know if there was an easier way to do this. I have Ai if there is something there that could help me out. Thanks!

Not quite sure what you are trying to ask!

If you know how to use Illustrator, the pen tool being mostly the same, it would be easier to create this image.

The pen tool and text tool are your best choice. The text you can do by finding the font that works for you. The pen and shape tools will work fine. Shape tool for the circle, pen tool, even polygonal lasso, for the straight lines. Recreating the image is your best bet. However, you could try refine edge under select once you make this selection, smooth the edges and reduce the outline size to get rid of the haloing.

My advice, recreate it with PS or AI vectors.

I'm assuming that the OP created the original path when designing the logo, unless it was one of those 50 free logos.

But, if the OP did create the original pathways, what causes this to happen guys? Why would the path be off?

If you create an object with the pen tool and fill it you will have something like the result the OP posted. You can however move the path (perhaps accidentally) independent of the filled object on a layer, so when you activate it again it would be misaligned.
