A realistic shadow for my picture [NEED HELP]

Hey guys, I have a picture of the Joker (The Dark Knight) and a gradient background.
What I want to do is to put a shadow behind the Joker as if there is a wall.
I have made a shadow but it looks like the Joker is on a street and not really what I want....

So can anyone please help me out? :)

I really want to finish this picture and thanks in advance to all who wants to help!
 
Just very roughly selecled the shadow to a horizontal line and transformed to left also prolonged a bit. Seems so :

Cloned the background VERY roughly, you have it for sure.
 
Thanks for the advice but I do not seem to understand it fully. If there were a tutorial anywhere, here or YouTube or elsewhere to do this step by step, I would very much appreciate it :)

PS : I really AM A NOOB!!!! Very bad Photoshop user :P So I dunno much
 
No problem, I am beginner in this area myself.When you created the picture, do you have the shadow separated, the best would be if you have it on a separate layer. Then you just select it so it has horizontal lower edge where your wall should start. Then you play with Edit-Transform.
If you can post your psd file it would be easier to explain. I do not know much about tutorials on youtube, they are good from those I saw, but I prefer those I have on DVDs.

Perfect, so here is what I have done :
1. select only in shadows layer

2. transform so you get the shadow "standing" ( I think I selected too high, which makes the wall too far )

3. deselect, switch all layers on, check wheter it looks well
 
Nice helpful visual there peta. I would consider "rasterizing" the joker layer, adding a mask and deleting or big time softening the outer glow where it obstructs the shadow and maybe softening it around that entire side.
