Guys, this is the one and only "Fee for Services" section in PSG.
Anyone that posts here should understand they are contracting for professional quality services for a fee.

For your protection and the client's protection you should negotiate terms before posting anything, and then make sure your work is watermarked.

You guys are cheating yourselves and anyone else that wants to take any jobs available in this section.

Some of our pros that picked up jobs here don't even respond anymore because you guys are giving it away for free.

I don't know know how many times I've said this in this section.
I changed the name of the section to include "Fee for Service Section", and posted an announcement.
I've inserted comments similar to this in several threads and still you guys don't get it.

How do I get through to you guys??? :banghead:

Re: Easy color switch for two photos, PLZ HELP ;)

I apologize to everyone here for my willingness to give work away after it was posted in a pay section. I had my reservations but posted it anyways. Yoga_girl if you like the work, you can contact me through a pm and we can discuss getting the watermark removed for a resonable fee.

Maybe a popwindow/alert each time enter in Freelancer section?

P.S. Sometimes it just falls out of mind. It's happens to everyone even to you so to speak:)

Re: Easy color switch for two photos, PLZ HELP ;)

I have to agree with senior I did not even notice what section it was in there does need to be something to make it more obvious as I only click on the whats new thread and go into autopilot mode. I do try and stay away from the freelance section and leave it to the people that want to be paid But every now and then I just do not realise that I am working on a paid job for free.

Re: Easy color switch for two photos, PLZ HELP ;)

Couldn't the banner frames within this section be in orange or something, instead of the standard blue?

Re: Easy color switch for two photos, PLZ HELP ;)

i think perhaps the title should be red in color indicating it's a pay for service thread?

I moved the discussion so as not to hijack the original thread.
There are only 3 options I'm aware of.

1. Change the Style which doesn't seem to work for me and probably not for any member logged in.
I think the user settings are overriding the section settings.

2. Moderate the posts.
Nothing gets posted until cleared by the staff.
I'll talk to Admin about this.

3. Bag the whole freelance section.
We don't want to do that.

can you not alter the forum settings so it does not post in the whats new section like every other post but make users have to physically go into the freelance section to find work or maybe at the bottom of the whats new section have a new title bar that clearlyy states freelance section and post the new freelance requests there. I am not sure how customisable this forum is to achieve that but it is a suggestion.

My advice:

The real solution is for everyone here to recognize that Photoshop/Illustrator work has a real value and shouldn't be given away. The vast majority of people asking for freebies are never heard from again once they get it. The exception being when they come back and ask for something else for free.

If you just want to practice or show off your skills, go ahead. But watermark your work, even if you're just learning. Your time and talent are worth something.

People who say "sorry but I can't pay anything" actually mean "I don't want to pay anything". Everyone can offer something tangible in return for your time and efforts, even if it's minimal.

And before someone decides to lecture by saying "not everything is about money"... I agree. Which is why I try to help people who want to learn on this site and others, for free.

I am sorry for doing it the one time when i first joined. And i can tell you that when i did it i truly had no idea that it was a pay for area. sorry if i hurt anyone in any way! i am waiting my 30 days out!

Not to worry Bill, and you too Stric9, as you can see even our Senior Members, Power Users, and Gurus are doing the same thing.
It's not intentional on anyones part, but new guys don't think of checking the rules, the older guys don't check what section they're posting in.

Like Hawkeye said, there is value in the talents you guys have, and there are people that will pay for your skills in the Freelance section.
Freelance is different than any other section here and I want to develop and build it.

If this section does well it's good for you guys; you get paid for your work, and it's good for the person requesting the work; they're getting quality work at a great price.

Most important to me is it's good for PSG because it generates more traffic and search engine hits.

From now on then all works are watermarked, for the good of us all let alone the site that helped us along our way.

That would be very helpful and a better option than pop-up's, colored borders, section restrictions, or Moderation.

What you guys want to do with requests in the rest of the forum is up to you, but Freelance isn't going anyplace with out your help, cooperation, and you guys notifying us of any posts violating the rules of the Freelance section.

I have been wondering about this watermarking thing, I don´t really understand what purpose it serves in forums like this, since when you post something you have to (or at least usually) reduce the physical size of the original image, and the resolution to about 72 pixels. I don´t see what anyone would want to do with a shrunken low resolution thing like that anyway if they were to steal it or something, it would look like crap if they printed it on anything anyway wouldn´t it?

thats 72 pixels per inch not the overall size of the image that is plenty good enough for anyone to use for most things

No it´s not Hoogle, I usually never disagree with you but you are wrong here. I suppose you mean that it depends on what physical size you have made the image in to begin with, and what size you shrink it to when you post it here, but that doesn´t really matter, an image that has a resolution of 72 dpi, looks like crap if you try to print it on anything.

It all depends on the use, not everyone intends to print. Logo, signatures, Facebook, etc.... For internet use 72 PPI is adequate.

Yeah well ok Hawkeye, but they can´t make any money off of it, oh, and they can´t make logo´s out of it can they? A logo especially has to be able to be resized and printed doesn´t it? :)

Logos are used on websites as well. Additionally most people, including me, work large then reduce the size later. That can make a logo usable for some printing applications like a business card or a letterhead for instance.
