I was checking weather the image url works or not I mistakenly hit the submit button instead of preview one.Sorry on that one and I cannot find option to edit thread...

Actually I was trying to achieve the second image from the first one by applying vector mask...And I'm fail to do so...thanx for the reply idad....

Assuming that you have each of rectangle in separate layer.

1. CTRL+click on orange one on Layer panel.
2. Select (click) "cyan" rectangle in Layer panel.
3. Menu - Layer/Layer Mask/Hide Selection.
4. Switch visibility of orange layer off.

Hi prathoven

For vector shapes to work correctly when working whit boolean operators as Add, Subtract, Intersect or Exclude, make sure you've created both paths or vector shapes on the same mask other was it won't work.

Also i found you this tut, that i consider it may be helpful
Working with Vector Masks in Photoshop

Hope this helps.

Ups, 1r_M4x1mu$ ir right about vector masks.

P.S. In case you haven't path/shapes in one "piece" then you'll have to redraw one of them or use normal masks from my advice.

By the way in which program you working?

Maybe I'm not understanding the problem but a vector mask to reveal just the one shape is all that's needed.

Thanx guys for the reply..I really appreciate your work..
@SeniorS I actually was trying your work I found the tut over the internet but I cannot actually apply might be the platform issue...My application software is
PhotoshopCs5 and system software is mac os x.

For that work you should have both shapes in diferent layer (and none of them in background). Maybe that's a problem.

I have each shape in different layer.
As show here:

As I ctrl+click in orange layer same option pops up as left click. I think there's the problem.
and as step 2: I use command+ right click to select the cyan layer

Also the shape1 and shape2 are rasteraized!

Did you meant selcection of layer in step2 is command+click the cyan layer??

Nope. In step 1. Command+click orange. Step 2. Go to cyan (mening just one simple click in Layer panel).

Thanx for your deep intrest on my problem seniors.:). But simple click will just focus out the active layer from the step one
CM_Capture_2.jpg
[/IMG]....*Also this makes no use of carrying out step1 *and if I carried out the step 3 I can see no Hide selection in layer panel..
This problems is getting more disgusting maybe I should back out and search for other option to achieve same result...*I'm tired of giving u a trouble* and thanx for help.

Okey.
Step 1 -> should make selection as big as orange box.
Step 2 -> yes, focus on cyan layer.
Step 3 -> makes mask to cyan layer form selection which are maded in Step 1. In that case should cut out piece of cyan box.
Step 4 -> just make orange layer disapear (can delete if want to).

That should work.

Woooo- hoooo problemo solved.......First of thanx for the zillion for for your genorous help !
In step1 using cmd+click didn't select the orange shape but your hint of selection. I made a selection of orange shape through selection tool and I carried out rest step fluently. Thanx once again.Have a great day!
